Currently in Manitoba, the home inspection industry is not regulated, meaning anyone with a flashlight and a ladder can call themselves a home inspector.
It is important for the consumer to ensure that they are hiring an educated and qualified home inspector to help them obtain the information needed while making one of the most important decisions of their lives.
Members of the Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors (CAHPI), have met the educational requirements and passed the national examination needed in order to become a member.
CAHPI inspectors must comply with a Standards of Practice and a Code of Ethics, and are required to carry Errors and Omissions Insurance.
Lastly, CAHPI members stay current with ongoing educational opportunities. For more information, visit www.cahpi.ca.
